At this week’s annual awards presentation, the Rawlins Police Department presented the Distinguished Service Medal to Officer Amber Yardley and Lieutenant Jared Frakes. Officer Yardley and Lieutenant Frakes were recognized for their actions in peacefully ending a confrontation with an armed suspect without loss of life in June 2025.
The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded to a member of the department who distinguishes themselves in a stressful situation involving risk to injury, life, or property while clearly demonstrating courage, skill, exceptional tactics, and sound judgment above and beyond the normal demands of service.
