This morning, Thursday, October 3, 2024, shortly before 6:00 am, the Rawlins Police Department (RPD) began receiving reports of burglaries of motor vehicles throughout the Highland Hills neighborhood on the east side of Rawlins. Numerous reports of both attempted and successful burglaries from vehicles have been received. As of the time of this release, the suspect tested vehicle handles: no cars were entered by force. All burglaries were from unlocked
cars.
The RPD has arrested an adult male and more information will be released when the investigation concludes. We are continuing to investigate this broad series of crimes. If you have related video footage or had items taken or damaged, please contact the RPD at 307-328-4530. Additionally, the RPD has recovered stolen items that were dropped or discarded by the suspect. If you find a potentially stolen item in a yard, sidewalk, or street in Highland Hills, please do not touch it and call the RPD at 307-328-4530.

Rawlins remains a safe place to live, but crimes can happen anywhere. The RPD reminds everyone to always lock all buildings and your vehicles. Do not leave items of value in your vehicle, including: firearms; key or fobs for your vehicle, workplace, or home; photo ID, passports, credit cards, cash or building entry cards; wallets, purses, backpacks or other bags; and phones, tablets, laptops, gaming systems, or other electronic devices.
