On July 30 2024 at approx 6:40 pm the Rawlins Fire Department (RFD) responded to an approx 2 acre fire in the field to the east of the 6th street bridge, and south of the railroad tracks. By 7:05 the fire was controlled. Mop up was completed by 8:10 pm. No civilians or firefighters were injured.
Carbon County Fire assisted, totaling 4 apparatus and 14 firefighters. Thank you to County Fire for their assistance. RFD is conducting the state-required investigation. RFD will continue to monitor the scene overnight and tomorrow.
