On Thursday, November 12, 2023, at approx. 4:00 am the Rawlins Fire Department (RFD) responded to a approx. 6000 sq. foot shop fire in the 600 block of East Cedar. Due to the condition and contents of the building, it was deemed a defensive fire. Carbon County Fire and Town of Sinclair Fire assisted, totaling 5 fire apparatus and fifteen firefighters. The RFD thanks our partner agencies for their assistance!
The fire was controlled by 6 am and was contained to the structure of origin. Hotspots and mopping up were completed by 10:30am. It was an accidental/unintentional fire. RFD is conducting the state-required investigation. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
