There is a City of Rawlins Council Work Session on Tuesday, January 30th, at 5:00 pm at City Hall, 521 W. Cedar, to review rates and fees. As a work session, no council action will be taken. City Manager Tom Sarvey is completing a rate and fee study. This session will be a presentation by Sarvey to share detailed financial information on income, expenses, and proposed rates/fees. We encourage our community to attend the meeting, watch online during or afterward, and review the rate/fee study.
During and after the presentation, the recording will be available online at www.rawlinswy.gov/youtube, and the documents will be available at www.rawlinswy.gov/boarddocs and in person for review. In future meeting(s), the Council will discuss the information and provide feedback before the rates and fees are changed. There will also be time for written public feedback on the proposed rates, and there will be a public hearing at the Council Meeting where any change to fees is adopted.
The City of Rawlins is working on plans so we can maintain our infrastructure and provide services to the community. This is necessary as 1) an overextended budget led to seven general fund positions being frozen, and 2) infrastructure and facility maintenance have not been fully funded for many years. Reviewing the rates and fees is an important part of the budgetary process.
This rate and fee presentation will include an assessment of all city rates and fees, including:
- Animal Licenses
- Building Permits
- Cemetery Fees
- Contractors’ Licenses
- Non-resident, Liquor, and other Business Licenses
- Planning Fees
- Recreation, Shooting Range and Golf Rates
- Rental Fees
- Water and Sewer Rates

Rawlins City Council meetings are held every first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30p. Work sessions are often held beforehand, typically at 6:00 pm.
