In an abundance of caution Carbon County School District #1, in cooperation with the RPD, have placed all schools on lockout at this time. Our investigation still indicates the shooting which took place early this morning was not random and there is no immediate danger to the public. As always, we encourage anyone with information to contact the rawlins police department at 307-328-4530 or via text to 911.

In the early morning hours of April 8, 2022, Rawlins Police Department officers responded to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County for a report of an adult male in the ER suffering from trauma to his upper body.  The investigation determined that the victim was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound that was sustained at a residence in the 1100 block of Mountain View Boulevard. The victim was transferred to another medical facility in stable condition.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the event was not random and there is no immediate danger to the public.
